I was talking with a friend from college (feels so strange to refer to college as a past event) and I decided I want to write more often so that I don’t lose the writing skills I acquired during my 4 years of undergrad. I’m not sure if I will be using this Tumblr more, or if I will use one of the many tiny notebooks/sketchbooks I have and write my thoughts in there.
While I was in Paris and Florence I kept a journal which I wrote in nearly everyday. When I read back over the passages it was nice to hear the narrative of each day and how I experienced it. My moods were so different each entry.
I do enjoy writing as a way to use my new vocabulary from my GRE prep. When I get home I think I will run back through the lists and see if I remember the definitions correctly.
Despite my low test score, I still learned a lot of new vocab. I come across these words more than I ever thought I would. A distracting habit has formed from this though. I meticulously analyze everyone’s usage of GRE words and it’s annoying. I don’t want to be a bitch, but when you see people using these words incorrectly repeatedly it’s bothersome. Also, I hate this new trend of stringing 3 or 4 “big”/”smart” words in a sentence that sounds so pretentious it’s unintelligible.
This sentence for example: ” The name is a connotative tribute of loyalty to our native locality.”
