sometimes I wonder if i’m really supposed to be majoring in sculpture. i really like it and thoroughly enjoy it, but I’m so interested in so many other topics lately that i feel like these new interests are really what I need to be pursuing. It really sucks though that I’m already a Junior and just realizing this. I think i’m just going to fuse my interests and new hobbies into my art practice. i actually think they’ll help me create more conceptual things. hopefully lol idk. ughhhhh life is oh so confusing!!

i  think about this all the time; like do i want to be a cake decorator or a dental hygenist and make fake teeth?

Oh my dog, I wonder the same thing. Well not EXACTLY. But sometimes I wonder if I would rather just restore old cars and old houses or actually persue art. Good to know I’m not the only one!!!

I do too! Honestly, I can’t imagine not having any other interests that you want to pursue. I know for me, last semester when I was taking my science class it showed in my work. I think if someone is just all about art, then they’re selling themselves short. There’s so much more in the world to be curious about! But yeah, some times I wonder if sculpture is really for me, but I think that also might stem from me feeling intimidated some times because everyone seems to know what they’re doing. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t get the sense of the strong “community” that was talked about when I first started in the department.

yeah im in richmond! and i agree about the community! sure there are some ppl who are really close but i feel like they shun the other people they’re not close with. there’s so many clicks and i agree about the intimidation, because i feel like that!!! i feel like damn idk what im doing sometimes. i just like to experiment with everything and it seems like every one has found they’re “desired material” to work with and i’m over here making candy ponies lmao jk i liked that piece haha but yeah i feel you!
